Basic brine for feral hogs and waterfowl. Use for grilling cuts, roasts and braises.  

Makes 1 gallon of brine

1 gallon water

1 cup Kosher salt

1 cup brown sugar

2 star anise pods

4 bay leaves

Combine all ingredients in a pot. Heat over medium heat until the sugar and salt are dissolved, then cool the brine completely in the refrigerator until ready to use. Discard brine after using.
